She took several more bites and after a short while she got to the core and kept biting, chewing and most of all tasting until the whole core, seeds and all where in her belly. The skin of the fruit was chewy, while the flesh tasted neither sweet, nor salty, nor bitter, but a pleasant taste of freedom, the core was a metalic taste of iron, and the seeds crunched with a slight uncertain flavour of death. The stem she threw away back into the forest. Later a Blue Jay found it to add to his nest.
The Sun was up, high in the sky, and the air was warm and still. Not a breeze blew by or a rustle of the leaves. She sat under the fruit tree in the middle of the glade and looked straight at the Sun and day dreamed. Apples began to fall all around her, she did not pay any attention to the falling apples. She saw amazing things in the Sun: a Flower, a Butterfly and an Angel. And they spoke to her in visions, feelings and knowing. The great petals of the Flower looped around the Sun, the Butterfly’s wings spanned across the sky, and the Angel sang wondrously to the World.
The Sun called out “Who sits under the Tree with the Core, the Seeds and Hope in her belly?”
“It is I.” she replied
“And you dare to face me with your unblinking stare.” the Sun called
“Yes, your fire burns me not.” she responded with a face full of wonder
“Your journey has only begun.” said the Sun. “Find the Fawn in the Forest.”
